Robin_ Fenton who had been battling ill health for sometime died peacefully on 24 May surrounded by his family. His funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday 4 June at South Dalton Church. Robin_ served as Chairman of Governors for 17 years from 1982-99. He last visited the school in October 2008, when he planted a tree to mark the naming of the area in front of the Tom Stoppard Theatre 'Fentons', to mark his long and dedicated service to the school. On that occasion, he also presented long service awards to more than 20 staff who have worked for Pocklington and Lyndhurst Schools for over 25 years. It was evident from the warmth with which he was welcomed and Robin's own obvious enjoyment, that many were old friends from his time as Chairman of Governors. To quote one of the staff, 'Robin_ was a true gentleman' and a very popular Chairman who will be fondly remembered by all those who had the privilege to work with him and knew him well. |
