Dear OP, Further to Mark East's letter of March 2009 I am writing to let you know that so far I have received very few names of individuals who are willing to stand as OPA committee members. The OPA committee is a vital team that I really value and that works alongside me in providing direction, vision and organisation to the life of the association. In order to move things forward, a meeting will take place at the OP Summer Reunion on Sunday 21st June at 10.00am in the Cricket Pavilion. Keith Appelbee (Life Patron and OP) has agreed to chair the gathering which will also be attended by Andrew Dawes (current Deputy Head) and myself. Obviously we need the committee of about ten individuals to be representative of all OP generations and I do hope you will feel able to come along and offer support. I am really ambitious about the future of the association and with the 500th birthday coming up we have lots to do together. The purpose of the gathering is simply forward looking and by the end of it I would hope to have the names of OPs who are willing to a) serve on the OPA committee and/or b) assist me with events organisation. We may or may not be able, in the time available, to resolve the more senior committee positions of President and Vice President. If you are unable to attend but would be able to help out on the committee in any way please give me a ring (01759 321307) or drop me an email (darer@pocklingtonschool.com). Likewise if you do intend coming to the 10.00am gathering let me know so that I can order enough bacon butties! Best wishes Rachel Dare |
