Michael Smyth has been in contact with the school to ask for help from our former pupils with a biography he is preparing of Canon J Noel Duckworth who was the first Chaplain of Pocklington School and teacher of Divinity from January 1958 until the end of term in summer 1961. He left Pocklington to take up the position of Chaplain at the then newly founded Churchill College, which is where Michael knew him. 2010 is the 30th anniversary of his death as well as the 50th anniversary of the College and so Michael thought it appropriate to prepare a full account of Canon Duckworth's achievements and all material collected will ultimately be deposited for posterity in the Archive Centre at Churchill. Michael has asked me to invite Old Pocklingtonians who were at the school during 1958 -1961 to submit to him any recollections of Canon Duckworth. OPs wishing to contribute can contact Michael as follows: |
